Antedote was born out of the recognition that traditional clinical care for young and adolescent men often falls short. Founders Yeshaia Blakeney and Michael Martin—two leaders in the fields of mental health and substance abuse recovery with a combined 30 years of experience—noticed that conventional treatment models were overly rigid, disconnected from the body, and designed more like classrooms than spaces for true growth. Participants felt “clinically saturated,” struggling to connect with programs that focused exclusively on talk therapy while neglecting physical and experiential elements. Drawing from their own experiences of early recovery, Yeshaia and Michael created Antedote to provide a dynamic alternative, one that fosters engagement and holistic transformation by integrating mind, body, and relational practices
Antedote was founded by Yeshaia and Michael, who together bring over thirty years of experience in dual diagnosis treatment. Throughout their careers, they have worked with a wide variety of clientele, addressing both high and low acuity mental health and substance abuse issues. Through this work, they witnessed the shortcomings of traditional treatment models, including the framing of treatment in general, clinical saturation, and a lack of engagement. The body and nervous system often became an afterthought, while the passive classroom model and expensive top-down approaches failed to meet the needs of those they served. Recognizing these gaps, Yeshaia and Michael aimed to create a new category of care, particularly for young men who struggle with confusion, shame, and a lack of direction, often feeling boxed in and misunderstood.
In response to these challenges, they established Antedote Lab—a space designed to foster innovative practices tailored to individual needs. Here, we address emotional, physical, and relational aspects of well-being through modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, developmental theory, the depth model ontology, and the five levers, all within an environment that encourages exploration and growth. Our Antedote.
we are the alternative and adjunctive to traditional treatment for young men and their families.
